A demonstration by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau at an event for Liberal supporters in Toronto was interrupted Thursday by a protester from the Grbady Narrows First Nation.
The unidentified woman asked the federal government to keep its promise to provide a mercury treatment center to the northwestern community of Ontario.
She interrupted the questioning session with Liberal MP Adam Vaughan to deliver a letter to Trudeau, noting that people were still suffering from mercury poisoning in the area.

"It's been 500 days since you promised the community, your government promised it to the community," she said.
"People continue to be sick and die from mercury poisoning. And I know you're worried. You are a caring person. That's why I give the letter … I hope you'll get it.
Trudeau thanked the woman and told her that she was welcome.
"You are among friends here, but I understand how difficult the situation is for you. For the people of Grbady Narrows, "he said.

Trudeau said his government was working with the provincial government to solve the problem and his Minister of Aboriginal Services had met with the chief at Grbady Narrows.
"We are working on solving this problem, but I agree. We are all looking forward to moving this community to a cure and providing the kind of support and future for all members of this community and for Aboriginal communities across the country. "
This is the second Liberal event in recent months interrupted by a protester from Grbady Narrows.
In March, Trudeau apologized for his response to a protester who had interrupted a Liberal fundraiser to draw attention to mercury poisoning at Grbady Narrows.

As security escorted the woman to the outside, Trudeau thanked her for her gift: "I really appreciate your donation to the Liberal Party of Canada."
The people of Grbady Narrows have suffered for decades from health problems related to the dumping of chemical waste into the English-Wabigoon River system during the 1960s and 1970s.
