A new report from renowned Apple badyst Ming-Chi Kuo suggests that Apple's 2019 iPhone offerings will come with an upgraded Face ID camera system.
Kuo, (via MacRumeurs) said that he thinks that Apple will use a new sensor that better illuminates his face "to reduce the impacts of visible lights from the environment to enhance the user experience of Face ID ".
The report also suggests that Apple could introduce another distance detection system with a 3D Time of Flight camera on its 2019 or 2020 iPads (potentially with the iPhones 2020). This type of sensor measures how long a bright spot is moving between the camera and the camera. Subject, and could be used to capture 3D images. Introduced last year with the iPhone X, Face ID uses over 30,000 infrared dots to map your face.
