Mr. Feustel has recently held the position of Commander of the International Space Station. He returned to Earth just a few weeks ago on October 4, 2018.

Mr Feustel has recently spent months providing concrete support for low Earth orbit scientific research on the International Space Station, ensuring that the Earth Orbit Laboratory is fully operational and making three sorties in the world. space. He and the crew of the Expedition 55/56 performed hundreds of experiments during their expedition in the space of 197 days. Highlights included a study on ultra-cold quantum gas using the first European commercial facility for microgravity research, as well as a system using surface forces to achieve liquid-liquid separation.
Dr. Feustel has a Ph.D. in geology from Queen's University, specializing in seismology, is a veteran of three spaceflight. In 2009, Mr. Feustel participated in STS-125. Launched on the shuttle Atlantis, this mission was the fifth and final mission to service the Hubble Space Telescope, which had helped to improve the capabilities of the observatory until 2014. Dr. Feustel also served on STS-134 and launched on Endeavor to deliver ExPress Logistics Carrier to the International Space Station.
Dr. Feustel recently participated in Expedition 55/56, which began at the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan in March 2018.
