NANAIMO, BC – Up to 300 members of the Hells Angels club and other outlaw motorcycle gang members are expected to descend on Vancouver Island this weekend.

The Anti-Gang Agency says it is strengthening its presence on the island to support local police partners in forecast of the event.
Sgt. Brenda Winpenny says that police attend events like this for a number of reasons, including deterring illegal activities and public safety through overt police presence.
She says that many participants in similar events have been involved in criminal activities. . Lindsey Houghton will participate with members of the Uniform Gang Enforcement team at the agency and will keep the public informed of the event via social media.
