BENNINGTON – Enrollments for summer reading programs begin on July 2 at noon and continue until July. Participants sign a pledge to read and receive a reading journal to record their progress. The certificates will be handed out to summer readers at the World Beats Dance Party on August 14th at 2pm. Hours of history, workshops, films, a special performance and other activities in the children's room will thrill the whole family this summer. Through books, musical experiences, practical activities and STEAM challenges, kids will have the opportunity to explore music and sound in different ways.

Schedule

July 2: Registration begins for summer reading programs, "ROCK Libraries!" at noon and continue all month.

July 2-August 11: Rocker Report, write a music review of your favorite artist or band and submit your comment to post it. For grades 5-8.

July 2-August 11: Magical Mystery Tour: Follow the Beatles around Bennington while they visit the sites. Guess where they are every week and get a small price.

July 4th: The library is closed.

July 16-August. 11: Rock Your World Paperbag Challenge. Take home a paper bag full of materials to solve a different STEAM challenge every week.

July 9-August 11: Weekly Steam Challenges.

July 10: ROCK libraries! with Stephen Coronella, an interactive folk / rock family concert with songs and stories performed on a multitude of instruments, at 7pm. in the Rotary meeting room.

July 11: Storytime Rock-Out. Prepare your singing voice and join us for musical stories on the theme, 3-6 years old, 10:30 am

July 12: Rock-on Thursdays. Rock-on with a foodie expert, Logan Snow from Spice & n Nice. Learn how to make delicious smoothies and delicious snacks at 2 pm for ages 6 to 12. Registration required

July 13: Lunch and a movie, noon, "Yellow Submarine", 12:30 pm

July 17 and 18: Filming studio with Ryan Scutt, for grades 5-8. Participants watch films and learn about filmmaking, create and produce a short film, from 2:30 pm to 3 pm. Children must register for both days. Registration required

July 18: Stage release, aged 3 to 6 years, 10:30 am

July 19: Fat Thursday with mineral and fossil collector, Ken Carlson, 2 pm, for 6 to 12 years old. Registration required

July 20: Lunch and a movie, free, noon. "A ride in time", 12:30 pm

July 25: Storytime Rock-Out, ages 3-6, 10:30

July 26: Children's Zoo. CAT-TV staff and equipment will rock the Rotary Room in the library! Ages 8 and up, 6 pm to 8 pm

July 27: Lunch and a movie, free, noon. "Peter Rabbit", 12.30

August. 1: Time of the history of nature. Join us for a walk on the George Aiken Wildflower Trail in the Hadwen Woods and read Anne Hunter's latest book, "Possum and the Summer Storm". Preschoolers and caregivers meet at the Bennington Museum Pavilion at 10:30 am

August. 1 and 3: Film production workshop with Ryan Scutt for grades 5 and 8. Participants watch films and learn about filmmaking, create and produce a short film, from 2:30 pm to 3 pm. Children must register for both days. Registration required.

Ao. 2: Night of film in the poster. Dress up as your favorite character from the movie "The Wizard of OZ" at 6 pm

Aug. 7, 8, 9: Rockin's Three Day Workshop – Lego Robotics. Learn how to create and program Lego robots, grades 5-8, from 2pm to 4pm. Registration required.

Aug. 8: Rocktime Out, age 3-6, 10:30 am

Aug: Family picnic and music at the Hadwen Pavilion at the Bennington Museum. Date to be confirmed.

August. 14: World Beats Dance Party. Celebrate your reading and boogie efforts with music and snacks. Reading certificates will be awarded to participants in the summer reading program from 14:00 to 15:30.
