Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is really shaking up the format this year. In the absence of campaign and the addition of a Battle Royale mode, many fans are eagerly awaiting gameplay and new information to see what will look like multiplayer action on a larger scale . Although no Battle Royale images have been published, we have an overview of the number of players via a pretty convincing screen capture. The screen seems to suggest that Battle Royale in Black Ops 4 is capped at 60 players – significantly less than the other Battle Royale titles on the market.
Blackout, The Battle Royale Mode of Black Ops 4 is The Call of Duty attempt to capitalize on the current trend that dominates the games industry while keeping the fresh and current franchise. Although the mode is in development since last year, the lack of gameplay or concrete details suggests that Blackout is still very much in development, which means that even if the screen capture is legitimate, the ceiling the player may be higher.
The screen shot, seen below, has leaked a lot of ink for two reasons: it's the first information we've had regarding the number of Battle Royale players from Black Ops 4 and the apparent ceiling of 60 is below the norm 100+ defined by PUBG, Fortnite and H1Z1. The screenshot also seems to show a max of 12, which suggests that at least one of the Blackout game types sees 5 teams of 12 players face each other, not very different from 20vs20 in Fortnite or War in PUBG.
A number of players of 60 may surprise or even disappoint the Call of Duty fans who are familiar with the Battle Royale formula, but that makes a lot of sense. The series is best known for its tight and frenzied shootings, so climbing Blackout from other games in the genre can allow him to retain some of that experience. The Blackout card will be large, at least 1500 times larger than Nuketown, but that does not necessarily mean large open spaces with large amounts of players.
It is worth mentioning again that the picture is an unconfirmed leak, which means that there is a very real possibility that it is simply a convincing scythe. Assuming that it is legitimate, however, and that the number of players is not changed before the release date, this could prove to be an interesting choice that distinguishes Blackout from other Battle Royale shooters.
