PITTSBURGH – Brian Boyle He scored three times for his first career hat trick and the New Jersey Devils beat the Pittsburgh Penguins 5-1 on Monday.
Boyle had his natural hat trick at the "Hockey Fights Cancer" party in Pittsburgh. It included two power play goals and two referrals in net.
Boyle, 33, was diagnosed with bone marrow cancer at the beginning of the training camp last season. He was treated, returned to training last November and won the NHL Masterton Trophy, the best example of perseverance, sportsmanship and dedication to hockey.
