DESIGN SOUTH BAY, N.L. – A farmer from Newfoundland is looking for a fugitive cow who jumped off his farm fence last Thursday.

Coco was last seen on Saturday, two days after jumping over the fence and escaping from the Conception Bay South farm, 30 kilometers west of St. John's.

"I've had cows all my life and I've never had one," said farmer Barry Scott.

He asks the public not to approach the 450 kilo black cow during the search.

"He's not a little puppy, but he's a pretty big animal," Scott said.

A man was injured in a showdown with Coco on Saturday afternoon while he was trying to catch him.

Scott was on his way when Coco escaped capture again and he and his family have been looking for her ever since.

The big animal can be dangerous in the wild, but Scott still hopes to bring the smart cow home.

Scott said public safety was his main concern at the moment and he asked people to call him to tell him where Coco was rather than trying to apprehend him.

He says that depositing Coco is a last resort in case it poses a danger to other people during his travels, but he hopes to bring her back to the barn and calm her down.

Scott said that he had raised Coco since she was calf.

The family is increasingly worried since his last sighting ended, but Scott still hopes to bring Coco back to the farm safely.
