Cohen says Trump knew about meeting Russians at Trump Tower: report

U.S. Former Donald Trump's personal attorney, Michael Cohen, said Trump knew in advance of a June 2016 meeting at Trump Tower, during which the Russians offered damaging information about his Democratic rival Hillary Clinton. Mr. Cohen is ready to make this statement to Special Adviser Robert Mueller, who is investigating a possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia during the 2016 US presidential campaign.

"We Can not Believe It," Rudy Giuliani, a Trump lawyer, told Reuters Thursday, referring to Cohen. "If they rely on him … that would destroy any matter that they have" Giuliani was referring to Mueller's investigation

Cohen did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Reuters. His lawyer Lanny Davis declined to comment

Peter Carr, a spokesman for Mueller, declined to comment. Nicholas Biase, a spokesman for the Manhattan federal prosecutors, also declined to comment

New York federal prosecutors are investigating Cohen for possible bank and tax frauds, and for possible violations of the campaign law, which claimed to have had bad with Trump, and other issues related to the Trump campaign, a person familiar with the investigation told Reuters.

Cohen was not charged with any crime. Trump denied having a meeting with Daniels.

Previously, Trump denied knowing in advance that the Trump Tower meeting was going to take place, and he denied that there was any collusion between his campaign and Russia. Moscow denied the interference in the elections.

Trump's eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., along with Trump's son-in-law, Jared Kushner, and campaign badistant Paul Manafort took part in the meeting with Nataliya Veselnitskaya, a Russian lawyer.

Donald Trump Jr. told investigators of the Senate Judiciary Committee in September 2017 that he had not informed his father of the meeting in advance, according to documents released by the committee
