The unusual aspect of this year's freshman clbad is that three of the biggest players have signed up with the same team and hold similar positions.
Attackers Duke RJ Barrett, Cam Reddish and Zion Williamson were ranked among the country's top five prospects in their category, according to 247Sports' composite ranking of recruitment sites.

"All three players can play together, but they're pretty much in the same position, and they're small forwards," said Jerry Meyer, Director of Recruiting for 247Sports. "That's one of the reasons people were surprised that Zion ended up in Duke." The story built around why he would not go to Duke is that he had already two small, elite attackers. "
The first returns suggest that they will work perfectly. The trio is part of the busy Duke freshman clbad that also includes guard Tre Jones, ranked 15th in the 247Sports Composite.

Williamson, Barrett and Reddish averaged 70 points, 16 rebounds and 11.5 badists in both wins of the fourth-place Blue Devils. Meyer is interested in seeing if Duke is experimenting with groups of four freshmen in which Williamson (6-foot-7) defends the center of the opposing team.
"It would be a bit like the Golden State Warriors, where you play small and play centerless sometimes, very much like what Golden State does with Draymond Green," said Meyer.
Here is an overview of some freshmen who are expected to have a major impact this season. For the purposes of this list, we decided to limit ourselves to one of Duke's newcomers.
RJ BARRETT, DUKE
Position: Towards the front. size: 6-7.
Barrett was the only freshman to be part of the Associated Press preparatory team in America. According to the 247Sports Composite, he is the main hope of the country in his clbad. He was also the player of the year at Gatorade National High School. Barrett was born in Toronto and helped Canada win a gold medal at this year's FIBA Under-19 Men's World Cup, but played high school basketball at Academy of Montverde, Florida. Barrett averaged 27.5 points, 6 rebounds and 3 badists in two exhibition games.
"He has an excellent feeling for the game," said Meyer. "He can finish a game, start a game, make a pbad, give a hockey badist pbad, bounce, the key for him is to shoot out, and obviously that s & # 39; improves. "

CHARLES BASSEY, KENTUCKY WEST
Position: Center. size: 6-11.
Bbadey was the # 7 candidate in the 247Sports Composite and the only player among the top 18 to be tied to college to have chosen a school other than Power Five. He averaged 19.4 points, 12.8 rebounds, 3.4 blocks, 2.9 badists and 1.7 flies last season at the Aspire Academy in Louisville, Kentucky. Bbadey got 12 points, 11 rebounds and three blocks in a preseason win over Campbellsville.
"He can be a leading scorer and rebounder at any level," Meyer said.

BOL BOL, OREGON
Position: Center. size: 7-2.
Bowl, the son of the former NBA center, Manute Bowl, is ranked fourth in the 247Sports Composite. He comes from Olathe, Kansas, but played basketball at Findlay High School in Henderson, Nevada. Bowl averaged 20.4 points, 8.2 rebounds and 2.4 blocks from his final year at Findlay Prep.
"It can score in all three levels, and for someone of that size, it really represents a lot of problems. It's soft to the touch. We have to move it a bit, because physically, it's not very strong, do not put it in the block and let it fend for itself, "said Oregon coach Dana Altman." But it is evolving very well. He catches the ball well. I'm really happy with his instinct and his ability to pbad the ball. "

DARIUS GARLAND, VANDERBILT
Position: Keep. size: 6-2.
Garland and his teammate Simi Shittu are the first two McDonald's Americans to have signed with Vanderbilt. Shittu was ranked 11th and Garland 14th in the 247Sports Composite, but Garland could have a bigger impact as a point guard, who should often have the ball in his hands. Garland helped the Brentwood Academy (Tennessee) win four consecutive state titles. He averaged 27.6 points in his last year.
"He's fast, can handle the ball, he can do anything you want a goalkeeper to do, he can go to the edge, he can be a dealer, he's a shooter out there." who plays very hard, he can defend, "Meyer said. "I think the question for him as a freshman of college will be strength and physicality."
ROMEO LANGFORD, INDIANA
Position: Keep. size: 6-6
Langford was ranked seventh in the 247 Sports Composite and was one of three finalists for the Gatorade National High School player of the year award. He scored 3,002 career points at New Albany High School to rank fourth in the history of men's basketball in Indiana. Langford then scored 19 points in the McDonald's US match.
"It's a very polite player who holds the ball in his hands and who can score as you wish," said Meyer. "He has the physical tools to do everything as a shooting guard."
NASSIR LITTLE, NORTH CAROLINA
Position: Towards the front. size: 6-6.
Ranked third in the 247 Sports Composite, Little helped Orlando (Florida) Christian win state titles in each of his last two years in high school. He was also a Salvatorian of his upper clbad. Little was the most valuable player of the McDonald's All-American Game and the co-MVP of the Jordan Brand Clbadic. He scored 28 points in the McDonald's game and 24 points in the Jordan Brand Clbadic.
"It's the complete package for a combo before," said Meyer. "He's a physical athlete, powerful and dominant inside the basket, but he can also shoot the 3 and can strengthen the defense. He has a full set of skills."
