According to a report from Automobile Magazine based on Ford sources, the Detroit-based automaker might consider a small van based on the Ford Focus.
Ford is already building the best selling F-150 full-size pickup truck, and the midsize Ranger is due out early next year. This new version would have nothing in common with these two draft horses; it would rather be a very light urban carrier, destined for active lifestyles. Ford already produces in Brazil a small combo of light cars and trucks called Courier, but that of North America would probably be a little bigger, though it's still smaller than the Ranger. Production would also probably be in Mexico, where a new Focus-based crossover should be built, making the new pickup truck likely to be a variant of this SUV. Construction in Mexico also avoids the famous tax on light trucks built outside of North America.
Ford built the Ranchero, a pickup truck based on a car chbadis, from 1957 to 1979, although I do not put money. see this nameplate on the new version.
