A hot and busy Sunday for search and rescue members in the Okanagan ended with a 200-mile cold shower at the time
In a scene made for a movie, a Dramatic helicopter rescue was necessary from a swing and was seriously injured. Located in West Kelowna, Christie Falls is a bit remote and quite rugged. The falls are essentially a stream that falls from a rocky cliff, with the rope swing located behind the falls.
"It was a remarkable rescue," said Duane Tresnich of Central Okanagan Search and Rescue. "The helicopter had to go down into the ravine so low that it was below the waterfall."

According to search and rescue members, the helicopter's rear rotor sucked water toward the main propeller. and then forced the water down, on the search and rescue limbs. The call for help arrived at 7 pm.

The helicopter had been sent by 442 Transport and Rescue Squadron to the base Comox military. In all, 16 members of COSAR, four members of the Penticton search and rescue team and one of Prince George's search and rescue participated in the stabilization of the human
COSAR has indicated that contact with the injured, then another 40 minutes to get down where he was.
This rescue ended a busy day for COSAR. It started at 9 am with a four hour training on forest fire safety. Then, at 1pm, a call was launched for a wounded mountain cyclist from South Africa who crashed and suffered a possible concussion while on a KVR track trip. The tourist, in his sixties, was not wearing a helmet. COSAR says that she was stabilized and released to the B.C. Ambulance.
