An alleged drunk driver crashed, left the scene, was pursued by witnesses and then again crashed.
Police are anticipating impaired driving charges and failing to remain at the scene of an accident following an incident Sunday night in Nanaimo's Brechin neighborhood.
The sequence of events started on Chestnut Street around 22:25. and ended on Estevan Road a few moments later.
"He hit a car on Stewart at Chestnut, took off, someone apparently saw him. So he was sued and a few minutes later, there was another small collision, and then an altercation occurred between him and five other people, "Const said. . Gary O'Brien, RCMP spokesperson in Nanaimo.
In the second accident, the suspect's car struck a concrete barricade in front of École Océane.
The suspect was taken into custody and taken to hospital. Mr. O'Brien added that the suspect also had "personal problems" that also needed attention.
O'Brien said that the other five people involved in the altercation remained on the scene and cooperated, and no charges were laid against them.
