The Anaheim Ducks announced Wednesday that the defender Cam Fowler will undergo surgery later this week after being hit in the face by a puck.
The team tweeted "a scanner revealed a complex right facial fracture involving the orbital bone, the cheekbone and the upper jaw" after being injured Monday night against Nashville.

The Ducks announced that the operation would be practiced Friday and that the absence of Fowler would be determined once the procedure completed.
The 26-year-old is in his ninth season in the NHL, all with Anaheim. He has three goals and seven badists in 19 games this season.
