Mega-publisher Electronic Arts acquired an independent studio with a big name attached. The publisher of Battlefield and FIFA announced the acquisition of Industrial Toys, founded in 2012 by Alex Seropian, co-founder and former CEO of Bungie.
Seropian is a veteran of the video game industry. After leaving Bungie, he experimented with the development of outsourced games at Wideload Games. After that, he led the Disney games division through a period that saw the closing of Propaganda Games and Black Rock, as well as the cancellation of Pirates of the Caribbean: Armada of the Damned. In 2012, he founded Industrial Toys, which creates "mobile games for basic players". The studio has released two games until now: Midnight Star and Midnight Star: Renegade, featuring Serj Tankian's music from System of a Down
under the Worldwide Studios label. Little is known about the future production of the team, but EA said in a statement that the team would continue to "focus on creating new game concepts."
"We are pleased to see them join our studio "Samantha Ryan, general manager of the EA Worldwide Studios group, said in a statement
that the terms of the buyout have not been disclosed. It is just the latest studio acquisition of EA, after the Titanfall Respawn studio buyout in 2017 for more than $ 450 million.
