On Friday night, the winds came up, and the forest fire burned on the East Shuswap Road near Kamloops. took off.
"We saw the eagles' nest, and the fire coming towards the tree," said local resident Rob Alexander. "The fire went to the tree and then began to shoot at the tree."
Helicopters from the area were trying to get out of the tree. water the tree, but the water was caught by the gusts. Firefighters managed to get a hose to the tree, and started working to save him.
"Ten times the tree restarted and it came about six feet from the eagles and we crossed our fingers," Alexander said. "Then they brought the big fire truck, and, surprisingly, at the very end, they took it out."
"I never thought that they were going to be saved," said Caren Punton, a local resident. "It was really comforting to see how much firefighters had gone to great lengths to save these eagles.
BC Wildfire teams remain at the scene of the fire near Kamloops and attempt to contain them.
