Environment Canada issues heat warning for GTHA in southern Ontario

Environment Canada issued a heat warning for southern Ontario, including the greater Toronto-Hamilton area, in hot temperatures.

They said that a mbad of warm, moist air should affect the Golden Horseshoe on Sunday. Environment Canada's warning prompted Toronto Public Health to issue a heat warning as well.

In a press release sent Sunday morning, public health officials remind the public that there are 180 air-conditioned community centers in addition to shopping centers.

"For the homeless, TTC tokens are available in many of the city's drop-in centers to get to cool places," reads the release. Press.

There are also many other places where people can escape the heat, including the cooling centers of the city. These places are air-conditioned places where people can rest indoors and receive a cool drink and a light snack.

Beaches and pools are also open throughout the city as other options for cooling off and enjoying the good weather. Public health reminds those who are in the sun to drink plenty of fresh water even before they feel thirsty. They also recommend wearing loose, light and breathable clothing and wide-brimmed hats.
