While back-to-work legislation has forced Canada Post employees to end rotating strikes, the agency warns customers to expect "significant delays" for certain types of delivery.
In a notice posted on its website, Canada Post indicated that parcel deliveries would continue, but would be delayed "during peak holiday season and until January 2019."
"Existing arrears are expected to worsen this week due to high volumes generated by Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales," the statement said.
If you are waiting for a package from another country, international shipments may be delayed until March 2019, Canada Post said.
The agency said it is working with the Canada Border Services Agency, which is reviewing the packages, "to manage the large backlog."
