Explosive video of Connor McDavid hanging up and endless hacker and NHL referrals fail to call

A fascinating and totally frustrating video from the point of view of the Edmonton Oilers was developed by an Oilers fan on Twitter.

It details the endless attempts to hijack and keep Connor McDavid in Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Kings, causing NHL referees to foul without penalty.

In total, the video shows 12 incidents in which the Kings foul McDavid outright, some of which are not major fouls, but six or seven incidents – at 6:15 and 0:15 of the first quarter, the second period and 13h47, 11h56, 7h23 and 19h18 of the third period – more flagrant violations of the rulebook. Jake Muzzin's attack on McDavid at 1:47, in particular, is an obvious penalty. The match officials made a serious mistake not to impose a penalty on this player and one or two other players.

A year ago, in 1991, superstar Mario Lemieux accused the NHL of being a "garage league" for allowing so many faults to go unpunished.

Years later, in 2018, the NHL clearly remains a garage league.
