The family of a mother who was killed in a tragic car accident in Mississauga earlier this month met on Saturday night to remember her and her son while her husband and father are still recovering at the hospital, not knowing yet that they are dead.

Khushboo Dogra, her husband Sanket and their son Prakrit, drove their Nissan on Burnhamthorpe Road early in the morning of November 1, after being struck at the intersection of Mavis Road by an 18-year-old man driving a high-rate Hyundai speed.

The deaths of Khushboo and Prakrit were pronounced at the scene, while paramedics transported Sanket to hospital with multiple serious injuries.

The driver of the Hyundai was stopped by the police but released later.

Tejvir Dhugga knew the family before the collision and said that he and his family do not tell Sanket that his wife and son died on the advice of doctors.

"The doctors told us not to tell him because he had heart surgery," he said.

In front of candles and photos of Khushboo at Celebration Square in Mississauga, Mr. Dhugga said that even though Sanket is now conscious, he can not speak.

"He has a lot of questions in his head, he wants to know but he just can not talk."

Karamveer Singh, Khushboo Dogra's cousin, said that his cousin's parents and brother had flown to Sanket and arranged for the funeral.

"It's devastating for all of us," Singh said. "My aunt is not able to accept her departure."

He described Khushboo as a "pure-hearted" person who did not want to hold grudges.

"Even if you fight with her, she will forgive you."

All the family and friends continue to console each other and think about how one can tell Sanket that his wife and son are gone when the doctors say that he is healthy enough to hear the news.

"He went out with the whole world," Singh said. "And he will come back with almost nothing."
