Apple pushed the beta of the fifth developer of iOS 11.4.1 and MacOS High Sierra 10.13 .6, one week after testing the previous beta batch before the public release expected this summer.

Developers can download the code of all Beta operating systems from the Apple Developer Center or devices registered in the test program as a live update. A public beta is usually distributed within a few days of the developer's beta.

The fifth beta of iOS 11.4.1 is the build number 15G5077a, up from the fourth beta version 15G5074a.

The latest beta version of macOS High Sierra 10.13.6, build 17G62a, replaces the fourth beta with build number 17G54a.

The betas of this generation have, until now, missed new features and notable updates expected from the betas, with update notes provided providing little details about the changes. Given the incremental nature of the beta, it is likely that the final release to the public will consist of bug fixes and performance improvements, with few surprises expected in the future.

Apple is also testing its flagship versions of its operating systems, developers testing iOS 12, tvOS 12, macOS Mojvae 10.14 and watchOS 5 in anticipation of a planned release this fall . The public beta versions for the milestone versions are also provided for download, with the public beta iOS 12 and tvOS 12 later joined by macOS Mojave.

AppleInsider as well as Apple, strongly advise against installing beta versions on critical hardware, due to the possibility of data loss. Those looking to try the betas should do so by using secondary devices and keep backups of important data before installing or performing updates.
