At least five family members, including three women, were killed as a result of a fire in a home in Mandi District, Himachal Pradesh, Monday morning

]. Mandi police chief, Gurdev Chand Sharma, said that the fire calls had been rushed on the spot, but five lives were lost before the return of the bride and groom late in the night in Ner Chowk, 123 km from Shimla. the fire could be extinguished. Two other people were seriously injured.

The deceased were identified as the parents of the husband, Narender Kumar Soni (66 years old) and Veena Soni (62 years old); Narender's sister, Sudesh (70); his daughter-in-law Mona (40 years old); and his 12-year-old son, Sai Sohel.

Mandi's deputy commissioner, Rugved Thakur, told PTI that two rooms of the house had been completely burned in the fire. The exact reason behind the fire was yet to be determined, he added.
