Days Before Artists Come On Stage Winnipeg Folk Festival, ticket sales exceed last year 's numbers.

The festival takes place this weekend from July 5th to 8th at Birds Hill Provincial Park, with poster heads like Sheryl Crow, Pbadenger, Bahamas, Strumbellas and Courtney Barnett.

The number of presale and presale tickets sold in 2018 has surpbaded 2017 sales, said Lynne Skromeda, general manager of the Winnipeg Folk Festival, on Monday at the Free Press.

"We have a very good alignment this year, throughout the weekend," she said.

"Of course, Sheryl Crowe being on Sunday night, it's a very recognizable name and people are excited to see it, Sunday in particular, even looking at our daily sales, Sunday our strongest selling day until now. "

Cumulative attendance last year totaled more than 72,000 people over the course of the four day event.

"From what we see, we are ready to do it, if not to exceed it," said Skromeda, who has been running the festival since 2012.

"We had a good year last year, so people want to come back for the experience."

The three campgrounds of the park were sold last year and, just two days before the opening of the festival campgrounds, the provincial campground is complete and it does not have a lot of space. There is more camper on the festival site. However, Skromeda said that there is still room for campers in the quiet camping area and plenty of space for tents at both festivals and quiet camping areas.

Last-minute participants can buy tickets at the front door, while children under 12 enter for free. Prices range from a four day adult package with festival camping at $ 334 to one day pbades for $ 75 on Thursdays and $ 90 on the other three days.

The festival's employees set up the park since June 11th.

"We have set up over 100 tents over the weekend, we are at home now," said Skromeda.

While ground preparations are already well underway, the director said staff are also preparing for any abuse of psychotropic substances. All security guards and first aid staff are trained in the administration of naloxone and will have kits on them, she said, adding that they did not need them. use last year, she does not expect to need it this year.
