Stoney Point – March 26, 2019 – Notre-Ville-Ville.ca wears purple today in support of Purple Day. Canada's Cbadidy Megan created the idea for Purple Day in 2008, motivated by her own struggles with epilepsy and dispelling myths and telling people with seizures that they are not alone. From PurpleDay.org: Purple Day is an international initiative to raise public awareness of epilepsy around the world. On March 26 each year, people around the world are invited to dress in purple and organize epilepsy awareness events. Last year, dozens of countries on every continent, including Antarctica, participated in the Day of Purple! 50 million people suffer from epilepsy in the world. It is estimated that 1 in every 100 people suffer from epilepsy. In 50% of cases, the cause is unknown. Get your purple on! We will wear ours to support our guy, Tristan! |
