Civil rights pioneer Viola Desmond is celebrated today with a Google Doodle slide show
The doodle on the Google.ca homepage was created by artist Sophie Diao and has 10 panels illustrating Desmond's life.
She also traces the now-famous incident when she refused to leave the section reserved for whites from a Nova Scotia cinema in 1946 – almost a decade before Rosa Parks refuses to leave his seat in a separate car
