Former Duke star Grayson Allen led a controversial NCAA basketball life during his four years at Duke.
Allen, a first-round pick by Utah Jazz, unleashed a few players in college and became a national topic of conversation. Everything he did on the ground seemed to be dissected on social media. He spent a good deal of his preliminary interviews talking about the reputation, unwarranted or not, that he developed because of it all.
Originally considered a second-round pick, Allen went on to the first round by impressing the NBA Scouts in the NBA combine, in individual practice sessions and in interviews.
Social media came on Thursday night after Allen and former Oklahoma star Trae Young got entangled, more than anything else, at a league in New York City. Summer NBA game between Allen Utah Jazz and Young's Atlanta Hawks. Tweets and headlines talked about "skirmishes" and "altercations" and "fights". It seems that Allen, intentionally or not, got into Young's arm, who was trying to shoot.
Young did not seem to like it and tried to force Allen to bury himself. On the way home, his hands looking as if he was trying to end the room, Allen seemed to give Young a slight shoulder kick. But, in our eyes, it was far from a fight.
What does social media understand about Allen on Thursday night? Exposing the jumping ability that many had heard about but not really seen much.
