HANOI, Vietnam – Officials of Formula 1 and Hanoi have announced that a street race in the Vietnamese capital will be added to the F1 calendar from the 2020 season.
In a statement released on Wednesday, F1 officials said the race was scheduled on a 5.565-kilometer circuit. The race in Vietnam will join other stages in the Asia-Pacific region, including Japan, China, Singapore and Australia.
The statement gave little details about the race, or its place in the calendar. The developer of Hanoi, Vingroup, has signed a multi-year agreement without specifying the agreement or the level of support from the government.
Formula 1 has 21 races on a tentative schedule for 2019.
The 2018 season will have two races to go, in Sao Paulo and Abu Dhabi.
