Hello, Sudbury! Here are 10 stories to start the day

[ad_1]

Hi, Grand Sudbury.

Here are some stories to start the day.

Superheroes are preparing to surprise the little heroes this weekend:

For the third consecutive year, officers from the Greater Sudbury Police Tactical Unit (GSPS) disguise themselves as superheroes while they rappel to Health Sciences North (HSN) this weekend. . While walking down the building, the officers / superheroes surprise patients from the Pediatrics Unit and the NICU. Then, they greet the little heroes present on the outside (the children are invited to dress up this Sunday!). All proceeds from the event contribute each year to "save the day" from the pediatric department of HSN. Each $ 10 donation "buys" a foot of rope that helps donations reach children in the hospital. The Sudburians present will be able to decorate their cape of superheroes and pumpkins teal that day. The barbecue after the event is hosted by Vale, the superhero sponsor of Marerk Hospitality Inc., and the sponsors of Rappel are Faiella Financial Group, P & M Kouzzina, RBC and SHARE. The space of observation is limited, so be sure to get there early. Parking is available for spectators at Health Sciences North for a fee.

The first and only fertility clinic in Sudbury celebrated its official opening on October 25th. The fertility clinic of the NEO Women's Health Network is the only one of its kind in northeastern Ontario. It will serve patients as far away as the west of Sault Ste. Marie east of North Bay and north to Timmins, Hearst and Kapuskasing.

The services offered by the NEO Women's Health Network include the diagnostic investigations needed to determine if there are underlying health issues that may explain why a couple does not become pregnant, monitoring the cycle, taking blood tests and ultrasound. Intrauterine inseminations (IUI) and monitoring can also be performed at the clinic. Remember the sacrifice: it's time to donate poppy, Greater Sudbury

This year's poppy campaign is underway and 37,000 poppies will be distributed in the City of Greater Sudbury. Mayor Brian Bigger officially declared Poppy Day in the city from October 26 to November 11 (Remembrance Day). He helped raise the poppy flag at Branch 76 of the Royal Canadian Legion in Minnow Lake on Friday. Gisele Pharand, President of the Poppy Campaign, said members and volunteers of the Legion were tagging the city's main sites. Last year's campaign raised about $ 60,000 for branch 76 alone, but more than $ 250,000 was collected across the area, including 12 branches of the Legion. The money is used by veterans and their families. The money also serves Operation Service Dog Access, which helps veterans living with post-traumatic stress disorder. Branch 76 wants to raise enough money to have a dog in Sudbury, and it takes $ 22,000 to train each one of them, said Pharand.
