A horse had to be euthanized following an incident at the Calgary Stampede race on Wednesday
The Calgary Stampede said Thursday that the horse was immediately badessed by a veterinarian after the incident, then transported by ambulance.

The vet determined that the horse had a fractured leg and needed to be lowered.
"This type of injury is known in racehorses and is not. unique to the Chuckwagon race, "said the statement." This loss is felt deeply within our organization as well as by the owner. "
