When the Huawei Mate 20 Pro was unveiled in London a few weeks ago, the Chinese manufacturer has qualified it as the most advanced smartphone to date, going through a very long list of novelties for this device.
They are not the first company to scream lyrics on their latest smartphone, and certainly will not be the last.
As for the praise that Huawei praises the Mate 20 Pro, much of it is very well founded.
Having used the phone in the past two weeks, this is without doubt the best flagship phone on the market, and it is currently the phone to beat.
Here's why.
Kaleidoscope of color
The first thing that strikes you about the Mate 20 Pro is its design. In particular, our exam model, which is adorned with Twilight color. This gradient color option is certainly eye-catching and is one of the main reasons why the Huawei P20 series has been so successful locally.

Good interpreter
The next aspect to discuss is the processor that powers the Mate 20 Pro, a Kirin 980 octa-core processor. This chipset is built in a new 7-nanometer design and makes all the difference, especially in benchmarking.
We used AnTuTu (our must-have reference) on the Mate 20 Pro, which had an impressive score of 270,969 (v7.1.0). To put things in perspective, the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 has collected 244,095, making the Mate 20 Pro the most powerful smartphone we have designed so far this year.
We now know that Huawei has had trouble playing with the benchmark performances. So we have to take the numbers with a grain of salt.
Fortunately, the performance in hand was what the reference told us.
Things are going well on the Mate 20 Pro, without any shift in multitasking.
The only problem we encountered was the cluttered appearance of the UI in some areas, such as the menu, making navigation a little difficult sometimes. As such, it is still an area on which Huawei must work.
Final verdict
It seems that the lighting can hit twice, and in the case of Huawei, it was so for the P20 Pro and now the Mate 20 Pro.
Based on the specifications only, no smartphone on the market can touch it at the moment. Add to that the fact that it costs relatively much (clears the throat) well 18 R18 (RRP) and the Huawei Mate 20 Pro seems well spent.
