Huawei Mate 20 Pro Review: First Place

[ad_1]

When the Huawei Mate 20 Pro was unveiled in London a few weeks ago, the Chinese manufacturer has qualified it as the most advanced smartphone to date, going through a very long list of novelties for this device.

They are not the first company to scream lyrics on their latest smartphone, and certainly will not be the last.

As for the praise that Huawei praises the Mate 20 Pro, much of it is very well founded.

Having used the phone in the past two weeks, this is without doubt the best flagship phone on the market, and it is currently the phone to beat.

Here's why.

Kaleidoscope of color

The first thing that strikes you about the Mate 20 Pro is its design. In particular, our exam model, which is adorned with Twilight color. This gradient color option is certainly eye-catching and is one of the main reasons why the Huawei P20 series has been so successful locally.

It remains to be seen if the same goes for the Mate 20 Pro, but in terms of style, this device will not fail.

To complete the Twilight back cover, Huawei offered him a first display of this type for the company.

In particular, a 6.39 "screen is at the front, with a design almost without glbades. The main topic of discussion, however, is the fact that it incorporates a fingerprint sensor, a first for the phone manufacturer.

Compared to the physical version of the Mate 10 Pro, the virtual variant is a little slower and often requires several supports before unlocking. However, we believe that this could be due to an accumulation of oil on the screen, which would hinder the speed with which the fingerprint can be recognized.

Move on the quality of the screen is superb. The Mate 20 Pro looks rich and clear. If you're watching high-resolution videos or playing graphics-rich games, you're really starting to appreciate the quality of the display.

All cameras

One of the other important aspects of the Mate 20 Pro is the built-in camera configuration.

In the back, this is what is most noticeable when Huawei has developed a new group that places three lenses and the flash in a square format. It is also centered on the back of the phone for a very good reason apart from its aesthetics.

Huawei 's is much focused on wide – angle photography for the Mate 20 Pro, and the Focused Focus Group lends itself perfectly to such a function.

For on-board lenses, there is a mbadive wide-angle option of 40 MPa, as well as an ultra wide angle telephoto lens of 20 MP and 8 MP. If you want to photograph a lot of landscapes and architectures in particular, the camera configuration of the Mate 20 Pro is perfectly suited to that.

It also works very well in low light conditions, with a macro mode that works 2.5 centimeters from an object.

As for the performance of the camera, the Mate 20 Pro is currently leading the pack. Oh, it's also Leica certified, which is a very good recommendation.

Good interpreter

The next aspect to discuss is the processor that powers the Mate 20 Pro, a Kirin 980 octa-core processor. This chipset is built in a new 7-nanometer design and makes all the difference, especially in benchmarking.

We used AnTuTu (our must-have reference) on the Mate 20 Pro, which had an impressive score of 270,969 (v7.1.0). To put things in perspective, the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 has collected 244,095, making the Mate 20 Pro the most powerful smartphone we have designed so far this year.

We now know that Huawei has had trouble playing with the benchmark performances. So we have to take the numbers with a grain of salt.

Fortunately, the performance in hand was what the reference told us.

Things are going well on the Mate 20 Pro, without any shift in multitasking.

The only problem we encountered was the cluttered appearance of the UI in some areas, such as the menu, making navigation a little difficult sometimes. As such, it is still an area on which Huawei must work.

Final verdict

It seems that the lighting can hit twice, and in the case of Huawei, it was so for the P20 Pro and now the Mate 20 Pro.

Based on the specifications only, no smartphone on the market can touch it at the moment. Add to that the fact that it costs relatively much (clears the throat) well 18 R18 (RRP) and the Huawei Mate 20 Pro seems well spent.

Equipped with a long and long battery of 4,200 mAh offering some great tricks, a hard-to-beat camera experience and fast overall performance in the hand, the Mate 20 Pro has very few flaws.

Our only problems concern some elements of the user interface and the fact that all this beautiful design will probably not be seen when a protective cover will surround the device.

That said, you will have a hard time doing better than the Huawei Mate 20 Pro in 2018.

In almost every respect, the Huawei Mate 20 Pro contains the best technology currently available in the mobile industry. Add to that the fact that it's catchy and that its price is relatively reasonable. The Chinese manufacturer has made another winner for 2018.
