A man died after a confrontation with the Shawnigan Lake RCMP on Saturday afternoon.
Police members said they were summoned to a block 1100 house on Mill Bay Road as part of an badault investigation, adding that they intended to arrest a man.
When they entered the house, the officers said that the man "brought them with a sharp weapon".
Police tried to deploy a Taser but without success and shot at the man.
The man was taken to the hospital and has since succumbed to his injuries. No one else was hurt.
The independent investigation office has been informed and will conduct an investigation into the incident.
