An injured woman who died Wednesday night in northeastern Edmonton in a hit and run offense was killed after being hit by a second vehicle whose driver fled, police said.
The collision occurred around 19:30. when the 38-year-old victim was hit by a black Toyota Corolla while she was crossing 127 Street from 127 Avenue. The driver of the Corolla remained on the scene.
"While the pedestrian was injured on the road, a second vehicle, a sedan, also hit him, but did not remain on the scene," said police spokeswoman Cheryl Sheppard in an email on Thursday.
The woman died on the scene.
No charges have been laid, but the police urge witnesses to the collision to come forward.
The investigation remains active and ongoing, the police said.
This is the 20th traffic death in Edmonton and the eighth pedestrian fatality in 2018.
