iPhone with iOS 12, 4GB of RAM, top clock speed allegedly spotted on Geekbench

Apple is planning to launch its latest iPhone models this year in September, and as usual the rumors have already begun to go around. There have been several leaks and predictions about what iPhone 2018 models will contain, but it's inevitable to see some of the upcoming iPhone models popping up on some popular reference sites. Apple is expected to launch three new iPhone models this year, and one of the models has been spotted on Geekbench. The reference list reveals some details of the alleged iPhone model, such as the presence of iOS 12, 4GB of RAM, and possibly a new processor.

According to the Geekbench list, first spotted by Consomac, one of the 2018 iPhone models will come with slightly improved specifications compared to the iPhone X. The variant in question has been listed under the internal code of the device "iPhone 11.2" and comes with a D321AP motherboard. The list shows that the iPhone was tested last week. The details claim that the phone is powered by an ARM processor that has similar features to the A11 Bionic chip inside the 2017 iPhone models. It comes with six cores and a base frequency of 2.49 GHz, a slight change compared to the iPhone 2.39 GHz. However, it is not clear, from now on, which iPhone 2018 represents the "iPhone 11.2" model.

As mentioned, Apple is expected to launch three variants of the iPhone this year – a 6.1-inch budget model with an LCD that will replace the iPhone 8, the successor of the iPhone X with an OLED screen, and the most premium will be the iPhone X Plus variant with a 6.5-inch OLED display. The list suggests that this specific iPhone model will come with 4GB of RAM, 1GB more than the previous year's model. In addition, level 1 instruction and data caches jumped from 32 KB to 128 KB.

Due to the change in RAM, the alleged iPhone model achieved 4,673 in single-chip performance and 10,912 in multicore performance. The single-core and multi-core results show performance similar to that of the iPhone X, but benchmarks are often decided by optimization and not by brute force. Meanwhile, the Geekbench list also provided test results in terms of memory, crypto, face detection and voice recognition.

It should be noted that there has been no official information from Apple regarding the 2018 iPhone models. This is just a list before launch and should be taken with a pinch of salt.
