FLORHAM PARK, N.J. – New York City running back Jets Eli McGuire has a broken foot that will probably take him away for several weeks.

Coach Todd Bowles confirmed the injury after Saturday's training. He says McGuire was injured on Friday during a break – a contactless injury – during the Jets' first training session in the team's compound. McGuire was seen limping out of the field late in the session and did not return.

Bowles had no schedule for how long McGuire might have to sit outside. The coach was also unsure as to whether surgery would be necessary.

McGuire, a sixth rounder from Louisiana-Lafayette last year, ran for 315 yards and a touchdown as a rookie and caught 17 pbades for 177 yards and a TD

The Jets have Bilal Powell , Isaiah Crowell, Thomas Rawls and Trenton Cannon on the list, but could add another in the absence of McGuire.
