Lady Gaga Would Love To Perform ‘A Star Is Born’ Song At The Oscars

Lady Gaga is the buzz of Hollywood following her critically acclaimed performance in “A Star Is Born”; now she is talking to Variety about how the film helped settle a lot of her self-doubt and insecurities.

“As an artist, there’s always a feeling of ‘Am I good enough? Am I making something honest? Am I making something true?’” the 32-year-old singer explains. “There is a sort of stagnant sadness in me, wondering if I’m enough. Today I did not see that. I saw something different. I saw a clarity. I saw a truth.”

The movie is already an Oscars frontrunner, and Gaga is hoping to perform at the ceremony if “Shallow” is nominated for Best Song. “One hundred per cent,” Gaga says when asked if she would sing at the awards show — something that her co-star and director, Bradley Cooper, is all for.

“We talked about [performing at the Oscars] actually, because I’m such a maniac,” Cooper tells Variety. “I started texting her the whole pitch of how we should do it. So we’ll see. There might be a cool, unorthodox way we could perform it.”

Gaga admits to buying a ticket to “A Star Is Born” and sneaking into a movie theatre to watch the film among the general public but she didn’t stay until the end.

“Yeah, I snuck in. I sat through most of it. I had to remove myself before the end,” she reveals. “The film moves me so deeply. I feel so entrenched in the character that the second half of the film — without revealing what happens — is so emotional and tragic. I have to take myself out of it.”

The Grammy-winning artist also talks about swiping souvenirs from the “A Star Is Born” set, how the ending of the film was changed, and reveals the tribute to Judy Garland that didn’t make the final cut.

Elsewhere in the interview, Cooper reveals that he initially met with an “actual musician” to play the role of Jackson Maine, the character he ended up playing in the movie. Variety reports that that musician was none other than White Stripes frontman Jack White.

“I saw this other person that I wanted to do this, who is an actual musician,” Cooper says. “But [the studio] wouldn’t make the movie with him.”
