Life is squash at the Halloween pumpkin carving workshop

What does the Bond Head-Bradford Garden Gardening Club do when the fall is over and the final flower show is over?

In October, they organize a pumpkin carving and pumpkin decoration workshop with creative fun for all and prizes for the best jack-o-lanterns.

Garden club members brought their pumpkin carving ideas and tools to the meeting held at the Danube Seniors Leisure Center on October 25th. Pumpkins, tealights and stencils were provided.

The first prize went to Jack the Pumpkin King, of Nightmare Before Christmas, recreated by Sherry Morrow. The second prize was awarded to the prisoner trapped in a giant giant pumpkin by Diane Reynolds.

Skulls, cats, even Spiderman and a pumpkin decorated with musical notes were among the creations.

After refreshments including scary cupcakes and treats topped with orange and black jelly candies, members brought their pumpkins home just in time for Halloween.

Upcoming: The next Bond Head-Bradford Garden Club meeting will be the Annual General Meeting, which will include an awards evening and an election, at the Danube Seniors Leisure Center, 715 Simcoe Rd .. November 22 at 7:30 pm

In addition to the election and installation of officers and directors, there will be a workshop on Christmas table arrangements. All containers and equipment will be provided.

On December 6th, the club will hold its social Christmas dinner and potluck dinner at 6pm. at the Danube recreation center for the elderly.

After these events, the club will pause until the first meeting of 2019, to be held on March 28th.
