Local Breast Cancer Survivors Win 3rd World Dragon Boat Title

The London-based Rowbust team accepted its gold medal on the podium at the World Club Crew Dragoon Championships in Szeged, Hungary.


A team of London dragons is now three times world champion

The Rowbust dragon boat racing team Breast Cancer Survivor has participated in the World Championship organized by the International Dragon Boat Federation at Szeged in Hungary last week. The team is made up entirely of bad cancer survivors from the London area.

Rowbust competed in three different race categories: 200 meters on Tuesday, 500 meters on Thursday and two kilometers on Saturday. They won gold in all three races.

Rowbust is now three-time world champion club member of the bad cancer survivor division. They have already been crowned world champions in Australia in 2016 and Italy in 2014.

They are also eight-time Canadian national champions in the Breast Cancer Survivors division.

The team has been rowing for almost two decades. are mentored by Cheryl McLachlan and Sarah Shellard, both of Belmont.
