Sam Schmidt, co-owner of SPM, added: "Ric [Peterson] and I'm delighted to welcome Marcus to the team. He has a ton of experience in the highest levels of motor sport, so we think that he will be able to contribute to our development program that really started in 2018.
"Although the IndyCar program circuits are new to him, especially the ovals, we have a lot of confidence in his eagerness to learn as well as his work ethic." We think he and James [Hinchcliffe] will be a good way to push each other and fight to win these victories. "
SPM confirmed that the Honda # 6 remained open for Robert Wickens, who was flying for the team this year until he suffered Serious injury in a violent accident on the Pocono circuit in August.
