Microsoft is preparing for the 2018 Ignite Partner Expo in Las Vegas from July 16 to 18 Microsoft
As I l? have already said many times, the stakes are The future of work encompbades new ways in which workers perform their tasks in the modern era of heterogeneous devices (smartphones, tablets, PCs, smart speakers, watches The work is no longer a place, but the workplace of the workers, whether at the office, at the cafe, at the WeWork enclosure or inside your office.
I think Microsoft has surprised everyone with the speed with which it has pivoted from cloud and mobile solutions with a simple sprinkling of artificial intelligence.Microsoft has launched Microsoft 365, its all-in-one workplace solution, a year ago, that I've covered here It has seen impressive growth and adoption since, and now, on the eve of the Microsoft Inspire 2018 channel event, Microsoft has announced a handful of new updates to make it even more powerful and accessible for users. Here is my overview of the new features arriving at Microsoft 365 on the eve of Ignite
Free Microsoft Teams
Teams now has a free version Microsoft
In 2017 Microsoft introduced Teams, a center of Workplace collaboration merged chat, meetings, file sharing and applications into a single shared and unified workspace. Until now, it has been a success with more than 200,000 companies spread across 181 markets in 40 languages. A few months ago, I wrote an article on the progress of the teams in one year. You can find this article here . Now, Microsoft is launching a free version of Microsoft Teams, hoping to take the adoption to an even higher level.
The free version is now available worldwide in 40 different languages. Organizations can have up to 300 users on the free version, which includes features such as unlimited chat and search, integrated audio and video calls (individual and group), 10 gigabytes of team storage (and 2 gigabytes of personal storage per person), access to Office Online applications, unlimited integration of professional applications, and more. Microsoft offers this free version as a kind of stool of the full version in Microsoft 365. The full version includes all the features plus e-mail Exchange hosting, scheduled meetings, meeting recording, expedited storage, better corporate security like MFA and SSO and improved auditing and reporting, without organizational size restrictions.
I think it's a great initiative that many small organizations have been waiting for: lowering the barrier to entry and showing more organizations how helpful teams can be. While large companies could still have access to a free version of the teams for testing, small and medium-sized markets did not have as easy access. Slack has worked very well in this market, and this free version removes one of the black and white advantages of Slack. You can register here for free teams
Improving Events with AI
Microsoft also announced that it facilitates the creation of live and on-demand events in Microsoft 365 with the help of webcams, content, screen sharing and more. Microsoft has also announced the addition of AI-powered enhancements to Microsoft's 365 events. This includes a timeline of speakers that uses facial detection to navigate to specific speakers within the event. , voice transcription and closed captions. We all had to sit through long, winding meetings where it was hard to find the common thread. These appear to be useful abilities that will allow you to sift through events after the fact to find relevant information. Smart Events in Microsoft 365 Microsoft
Overview of Workplace Analytics and "Nudges"
This week Microsoft also began previewing its new Workplace Analytics solution. Workplace Analytics uses Microsoft Graph collaboration information to more efficiently manage meetings, set aside time for "targeted work," and better respect the boundaries between work and life.
Microsoft also announced the deployment of "nudges", a feature that uses MyAnalytics to provide various tips to users about changing habits. It may be advisable to recommend when you need to book targeted work time or report when you send an email to a colleague after hours of operation. I think these are great innovative ways to use data badysis to improve the relationship between people and their work. There are many technologies to make people more productive in the workplace, but much less energy to devote to a healthy and balanced relationship with work. Nudges is exploiting the trend of using technology to make technology less intrusive, ironic indeed. The focus on the work is exactly what I would expect from Microsoft, since Apple and Google focus on suppressing distractions consumer ].

Announcement of the general availability of the whiteboard
Microsoft also announced that the whiteboard is now available for Windows 10 (with the availability of iOS and the upcoming web preview). Whiteboard is exactly what it looks like – a digital whiteboard app that allows people to collaborate both in-person and remotely, in real time, using touch, pen and keyboard. Users can draw, take notes, create tables and more – perfect for creative work. It seems to be an excellent collaboration tool, well suited to brainstorming sessions.
Microsoft Whiteboard on iOS Microsoft
Whiteboard was released for the first time in December, and Microsoft says its customers have been instrumental in developing features and experience user of the application. Some of the features added since the preview include the ability to take text notes, the ability to insert and manipulate images, and better recognition of shapes and tables. In addition, the application has undergone improvements in accessibility and compliance.
This is so simple as a concept and I'm surprised it was not released earlier, especially with Google, Cisco Systems and even Samsung focusing so much on the whiteboard . Success and use will depend on how it works on heterogeneous computing devices and how Whiteboard works with different Windows pens from different manufacturers.
Wrapping up
Overall, these ads all seem to be nice improvements from Microsoft 365 which I think will bring more users and improve the experience. The free version of Teams, in particular, is a smart initiative, and I think this will allow Microsoft to further develop its base of 365 users. It is also good to see Microsoft continue to integrate AI into its offerings. This announcement is further proof that Microsoft is a very different company, facing many fronts of "the future of work". I look forward to seeing more from the company at its 2018 Inspire event next week – stay tuned for more coverage.
