SUNRISE, Florida – Only 25 seconds after almost finishing the match, Mike Hoffman is badured that it was over.
Hoffman hit the post at 1:03 of overtime, then scored at 1:28 to give the Florida Panthers a 4-3 win over the New Jersey Devils on Monday night.
Hoffman's initial shot was originally a goal before being quickly knocked down after a replay. Hoffman came back a few seconds later with a shot from the right circle that beat Keith Kinkaid, giving him 23 points in his last 20 games.

With their goalie shot for an extra skater, the Panthers tied their total goals for Jonathan Huberdeau's 100th career goal with 1:29 left in the third period. Huberdeau also had two badists.
Aleksander Barkov added a goal and an badist, and Jared McCann also scored to help Florida end a three-game losing streak. James Reimer stopped 29 shots.
"We are a team that fights every night, I do not think we have the record we want at the moment, but we fight most nights," Huberdeau said. "At the moment, we needed both points."
Jesper Bratt, Blake Coleman and Miles Wood scored for the Devils. Kinkaid made 30 saves and Sami Vatanen got two badists.
New Jersey lost its third straight game and is 0-4 in overtime this season.
"We have to keep working, it has been different situations, different guys, different things," said coach John Hynes. "When we look at this, there is not a particular trend, we will continue to work on it, you must be able to find a way to get two points."
Bratt gave the Devils a 3-2 lead when he fired a shot from Vatanen, while he remained 8:33 at the third. The goal was Bratt's second goal in two games.
The empty Panthers net, Huberdeau grabbed a loose puck and pushed her past Kinkaid for her 100th NHL goal.
Florida was close to 2-1 on a power-play goal of 5 to 3 from Barkov, who beat the puck once in front of Kinkaid at 7:31 of the second.

New Jersey extended their lead to 2-0 on a Coleman out-of-range goal. Barkov lost control of the puck in the neutral zone and Coleman scored on a breakaway by putting the puck in the corner of the net at 6:01.
