More charges against an American accused of having removed the Alberta model

A South Carolina man accused of abducting and badually badaulting a woman from Alberta lured to the United States with the promise of a model job faces new charges.

Fred Russell Urey is still in custody after his arrest in May 2017. He was first charged with kidnapping and a criminal badual behavior leader.

It changed this week.

"The prosecution has seized the grand jury and increased the charges," said Marcia Barker, spokeswoman for the thirteenth judicial court in Greenville, S.C.

Urey now faces five counts of criminal badual behavior – a charge for every day the woman is kept captive.

Police said the woman, described as between 18 and 25 years old, flew to Atlanta for what she thought was a modeling job and that she was talking with the accused for two months.

The investigators stated that he had agreed to pay him $ 15,000 for his work, which would not include "nudity or acts of badual behavior".

The police alleged that she was detained and badually badaulted after threatening to injure her and her family in Canada. They said the ordeal lasted five days, but she was allowed to contact her family via FaceTime while her kidnapper was watching her. In one way or another, she was able to report her position and indicate that she was in danger.

His family contacted the RCMP who warned the local authorities. They managed to follow the couple using the signals of a cell phone.

When police surrounded the caravan in Norris, in the south of the island, the woman allegedly jumped through a glbad pane to escape. Police said they broke into the barricaded caravan where they found a suspect in a room at the back. They say that he kept MPs out by putting a knife to his throat before surrendering.

The name of the woman and her hometown have not been disclosed.

If Urey is convicted of all counts, he could incur a maximum penalty of 150 years imprisonment instead of 90 years.

A test date has not been set.

"The prosecutor is still filing. They have a lot more homework to do, "Barker said. "It's only a step in the process."
