Netflix package price

Canadians are about to start paying more for Netflix.

The price of the three levels of service plan of the company will increase. The basic package, which allows users to watch standard definition on one screen at a time, will increase by one dollar to $ 9.99 per month.

The standard package, which allows users to watch in high definition on up to two screens, will increase from $ 3 to $ 13.99 per month.

Finally, the premium level, allowing four simultaneous streams in 4K, will increase from $ 3 to $ 16.99.

The new prices are effective immediately for new subscribers. Existing subscribers will be notified by email before prices change in the coming weeks.

The result is a recent price increase, during which most plans have increased by one dollar. Previously, the three plans cost $ 8.99, $ 10.99 and $ 13.99 respectively.

Netflix says rising prices will help fund upcoming TV shows and movies. In addition, it will help improve the platform as a whole.

However, Netflix also faces stiff competition in the market. Earlier this month, Bell Media's Crave streaming service introduced a new bundle of about $ 20 per month including HBO programs and recent Hollywood movies.

Disney also plans to introduce its streaming service next year with popular franchises and movies such as Star Wars and Marvel.

However, previous reports indicated that Disney programs would remain on Canadian Netflix.
