Operations begin to come back online after Air Canada's system-wide failure

Air Canada said airport systems, check-in centers and call centers were starting to come back online after a flight breakdown affecting flights across the country.

Spokesman Peter Fitzpatrick said the airline was still planning flight delays and cancellations, but was trying to accommodate as many customers as possible.

He added that some affected customers will be on board Wednesday.

Toronto Pearson International Airport, as well as the Calgary and Vancouver airports, indicate that they are working to support Air Canada.

At the height of the system-wide blackout, the Toronto Airport website announced delays of more than two dozen Air Canada flights.

Fitzpatrick states that customers must check the status of their flights on their airport's websites or on sites such as flightaware.com.

"We are working to solve this problem as quickly as possible," he said in an email on Tuesday night. "We thank customers for their patience and we apologize for the inconvenience."
