On July 1, at approximately 2:30 am, the Orillia Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police was arrested. Ontario (OPP) arrested a man Dangerous Driving on Highway 11 in the Orillia Detachment Area
Orillia Provincial Police members patrolled when a vehicle traveling well past above the speed limit was observed south on Highway 11. The vehicle had to travel more than 160 kilometers per hour (km / h) in an area of 90 km / h.
Officers radioed with other officers who were waiting with a spike belt where the vehicle was successfully stopped at line 7 of Highway 11. The driver then left the vehicle and, after a short chase on foot, was stopped. While police were investigating the incident, it was discovered that the vehicle was stolen from a Seguin Township residence
Orillia OPP charged Mitchell POWELL, 23, of Barrie with the following offenses:
- in paragraph 249 (1) (a) of the Criminal Code
- Escape from the police contrary to section 249.1 (1) of the Criminal Code.
- Possession of Property Officially Obtained contrary to Section 354 (1) (a)
- Conduct in a Prohibited State within the meaning of section 172 (1) of the Highway Traffic Act
- in suspension contrary to subsection 53 (1) of the Highway Traffic Act
