Ovechkin and Capitals Team Up with Whistler's Ax Throw

Ovechkin and Stanley Cup champion Washington Capitals were in Whistler on Tuesday to link them

Alex Ovechkin seems to be as practical with an ax as with a hockey stick.

On Monday morning in New York, Ovechkin and the Stanley Cup champion Stanley Cup were in Whistler, where they were making their mark, throwing themselves into the liaison team with an excursion into a covered place to launch axes.

Teammate TJ Oshie, who grew up in Washington's neighboring state, came out the most skillful with an ax and won the team competition by hitting a deadly shot, to the delight of his teammates .

"Ax Throwing is an excellent team building activity and we are excited to have hosted the Washington Capitals," said James Anderson of Forged Ax Throwing. "The team showed great talent for the sport and Oshie's decisive shot was incredible."

The Capitals will travel to Edmonton on Thursday to face the Oilers.
