A Kelowna woman is facing charges after allegedly causing a three-vehicle collision and knocking down a traffic light while drunk Friday afternoon.

Emergency crews were called to a report of a collision involving three vehicles at the intersection of Summit Drive and Glenmore Road at 3:25 p.m.

Police found a grey Infiniti G60 SUV on the cement median, with half the vehicle on one side of the median and half on the other side.

The driver of the Infiniti was speeding before colliding with a grey GMC Terrain waiting to turn left in the intersection, said Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey.

Officers detected signs of alcohol consumption on the driver of the Infiniti, who failed a roadside breath test.

She was taken to the RCMP detachment, where she provided additional breath samples. They were more than three times the legal limit for alcohol.

All three drivers were badessed at the scene by BC Ambulance Services.

The female driver of the GMC Terrain was taken to the hospital for further treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Witnesses who have not yet spoken to police are asked to call Const. Nadine Ricioppo at 250-762-3300.
