Prince Charles feels a "deep personal regret" of being "cheated" by a pedophile bishop

[ad_1]

Prince Charles expressed his "deep personal regret" for having been "deceived" by a pedophile bishop.

The Whale Prince has been friends with Peter Ball for more than two decades, although the pastor was notified Friday, a statement by Charles was read at the Independent Inquiry into Sexual Abuse Child (IICSA), as a five-day case study on how allegations against the bishop of the former Church of England ended. 19659004] Read more

During his time in the clergy, Ball boasted of his ties to royalty and was considered a confidant of Charles

Ball, who is now 86 years old, accepted a warning for a head of gross indecency in 1993 and resigned for health reasons

. But it was only 22 years later that he finally admitted his crimes and was imprisoned for badually abusing 18 young men over 30 years old.

Prince Charles will succeed the Queen as head of the Commonwealth

Charles said Ball told him that his resignation as bishop of Gloucester had been provoked by an "indiscretion", but the prince said, "When this exchange took place, I did not know about the nature of the complaint. "

He also said, in a six-page statement read by the board of inquiry Fiona Scolding, that he had not appreciated the significance of a warning and that at the time the word of a bishop was generally considered trustworthy.

Ball had mentioned in a 2009 letter the word "caution," but added, "I was not aware until recently that a warning actually involves an acceptance Guilty. "

He said that Ball had told him the" fake "The complaint against him had come from someone who wanted him and" persecuted "him.

The prince said he did not realize the truth of what had happened until Ball was convicted, adding that his main source of information up to that point had been the bishop himself.

Help: "In the 1980s and 1990s, it was badumed that people such as bishops could be taken at their word and, because of the high position they held, they deserved trust and confidence."

Rejecting any suggestion that he had ever tried to interfere in the police investigation into Ball, Charles said that it was possible that his name was taken "in vain".

] He was referring to a letter from 2001 which he said conveyed to Ball that he could not help in any steps that the disgraced bishop wanted to do to the Archbishop from Canterbury to return to the Crown.

"Son témoignage, ainsi que celui de Lord Carey, alors archevêque de Canterbury, et d'autres personnalités de l'establishment qui ont témoigné cette semaine, sont difficiles à comprendre. little to dissuade survivors from the conclusion that the British establishment aided and protected Ball and even now have failed to give a transparent account of their actions.”

Ball was released in February last year after serving half of his 32-month sentence behind bars.
