This week, my wife sent me a terrible text message, one that all technology owners dread. His Pixel 3 XL encountered concrete and made a bad first impression, break the back glbad. The beautiful glbad "Pas rose" was now a shell of his former identity. Fortunately, we were well informed of our options to solve this problem, but things did not go well.
The Google Store Repair Center page was our first destination, but to date, it does not claim to offer Pixel 3 or 3 XL repair. Not a good sign. Faced with this, we immediately contacted Google Store support to find out what to do. After being fully informed, they finally told us to contact uBreakiFix.
At the time, the Google Off-Warranty Repair Support page did not contain any listings. all fix Pixel 3, but since then uBreakiFix has been added to the list. They've been working with Google for a long time, offering same-day repairs for the original Pixel and Pixel 2 phones. We are located near New Orleans. So it was the next destination.
We booked a repair appointment online and left. Before our arrival, the uBreakiFix store called to inform us that they were not offering same day service, but would still need to badess the damage. After the badessment, they gave us a price of $ 110 and a promise to call us when the coins would arrive, probably within two weeks.
Today, three days later, we were greeted by a call informing us that uBreakiFix had no idea when the necessary parts would come in. The only part of Pixel 3 that they could get is the battery.
Short story: Google still does not solve the broken devices Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL, but instead sends people to uBreakiFix. Our local uBreakiFix is currently out of stock and does not even expect to get repair components – with the exception of the battery – of the Pixel 3 or the Pixel 3 XL in the foreseeable future. This means that my wife's new phone is currently damaged without recourse. (Another national repair service, Puls, can also repair Pixel 3 devices, but currently only in San Francisco.)
This is not an isolated case either. There are a handful of reports through Reddit on users who can not have their device repaired by uBreakiFix. A report calls for a waiting period of one month for his device to be repaired. Another quotes uBreakiFix as not being able to get the adhesive needed to reattach the back glbad. This is clearly a widespread problem.
Update: A representative of uBreakiFix made a comment, clarifying the situation behind the delays, including the current method for the stores for device maintenance.
In all transparency, a limited amount of OEM Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL displays are temporarily available. We hope to have these parts available at all uBreakiFix stores for same-day repairs in the coming weeks. To clarify, uBreakiFix stores are currently able to move these coins to our distribution center, and that's what you and your readers can expect while stocks last in each store, which will then allow us to provide same-day repair service for these devices. It's interesting to me that this next-day delivery option is not mentioned by our local store, but it matches the positive experience of uBreakiFix reported by some readers in the comments. The uBreakiFix representative said that he would keep me informed of the date when same-day repairs would be available.

(To be clear, if you have problems with your Pixel 3 that are not accidental damage and would be covered by the warranty, Google's customer service has generally met this need of buyers. covered if it was not obvious.)
All in all, this is a poor quality customer service for a company trying to sell a fragile glbad phone at a price probably higher. I think this problem will be solved soon, but for now, it's not a good time to become a Pixel owner who made this all-too-common mistake. Put a holster on your Pixel 3 or Pixel 3 XL if you do not want this to happen to you.
