Two of UFC's biggest weight contenders will face UFC's UCLN + 2 in February when Raphael Assuncao will be at the pbad with Marlon Moraes.

MMAjunkie confirmed today with two people close to the situation that a second fight between Moraes (21-5-1 MMA, 3-1 UFC) and Assuncao (27-5 MMA, 11-2 UFC) had been agreed. People have asked for anonymity because the UFC has not yet made an official announcement. ESPN.com first reported that the fight was about to be finalized.

The UFC on ESPN + 2 will take place on February 2 at the Centro de Formacao Olimpica do Nordeste in Fortaleza, Brazil. The event will be broadcast on ESPN + after the preliminary matches, presumably on the UFC Fight Pbad, although the broadcast plans have not yet been finalized.

Assuncao, No. 2 of the latest USA TODAY Sports / MMAjunkie MMA ranking, won a victory in the fifth division victory over UFC 212 in June 2017. The narrow triumph was part of an 11-1 run for Assuncao, 36, who has only lost to the current UFC champion, TJ Dillashaw during this stretch.

The former WSOF champion, Moraes, had a run of 12 wins and was stopped by Assuncao, but he rebounded with a first-round win over Kimmie Rivera and Aljamain Sterling, as well as a win decisive on John Dodson.

With the addition of the headlining, the latest UFC card on ESPN + 2 now includes:

  • Raphael Assuncao against Marlon Moraes
  • Thiago Alves vs. Max Griffin
