Rebel Wilson apologized after being wrongly called the first plus size woman to play in a romantic comedy. "Thanks to the very sympathetic and thoughtful responses of others on social media," writes Wilson, "I realize now that what I've said is not only wrong, but incredibly hurtful.

She articulated her remarks into three tweets, first recognizing the plus-sized actresses who played in romantic comedies before her, a list that includes Mo'Nique and Queen Latifah. Wilson also apologized for blocking several people on social media who criticized her, a mini-scandal that began after users noticed that she was blocking mostly people of color, especially heavy users of Black Twitter.

"The reviews hurt me, but they are the people I need to hear more, not less," she said. "Once again, I am deeply sorry.

The actress, who plays in the next movie Is not it romantic?, made his controversial comments during an interview with Ellen Degeneres to Halloween. "I'm proud to be the first plus-size girl to star in a romantic comedy," she said.

His comment was quickly picked up on social media, users responding that actresses love Ricki LakeQueen Latifah and Mo'Nique beat her in movies like Just Wright and Phat Girlz. Wilson first tried to defend his position with this bewildering explanation on Twitter: "Yes, I know these films well, but we could ask ourselves if: 1. Technically, these actresses were larger when they were shooting or 2. Technically, these films are co-registered / billed as com studios alone track. So, there is a slight gray area. "

Mo'Nique herself then responded to Wilson, inviting the actress not to "erase our talent by giving gray areas and technical details. Take a moment and know the story. DO NOT be part of the erasure. I wish you the best."

Wilson apologized to Mo'Nique Sunday, before finally apologizing on Monday. Then she probably called Sam Smith to exchange notes on how he managed to fend for himself in a very similar blunder.
